Breaking News - Israel says Iran hid nuclear arms programme

Unread postby GBDU » Mon Apr 30, 2018 7:20 am

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed what he says are "secret nuclear files" proving Iran covertly pursued nuclear weapons.

He said thousands of pages of material obtained by Israel showed Iran had deceived the world by denying it had ever sought nuclear weapons.

Iran agreed in 2015 to curb its nuclear energy programme in return for the lifting of sanctions.

It maintained that it had only been pursuing nuclear energy.

Tweeting earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif appeared to accuse Mr Netanyahu of "fooling people".

US President Donald Trump has long threatened to scrap the deal, which was reached under his predecessor, Barack Obama.

European powers have said they are committed to upholding the accord.

What 'proof' did Netanyahu produce?
Speaking in English from Israel's defence ministry in Tel Aviv, Mr Netanyahu showed off what he said were "exact copies" of documents obtained by Israeli intelligence from a secret storage facility in Tehran.

There were, he said, 55,000 pages of evidence and a further 55,000 files on 183 CDs relating to a nuclear weapons programme called "Project Amad".

I remember that Iran was working on Atomic (nuclear) power. Did anyone actually believe that it was JUST for energy? (electricity)

As I recall that whole area is famous for oil!!!!!!!!

No one ever believed that Iran was only pursuing nuclear energy. That is why world leaders sought to stop Iran's nuclear program with an agreement. It makes the agreement more important, not less so.

I agree that it was obvious that Iran was trying to make nukes. But as to the deal, I have zero confidence, given the watered down enforcement in the agreement, that they are still not continuing to do so. That's the point of the the Israeli disclosures - Iran has proven itself untrustworthy beyond dispute.

Now we can go back to war...

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country has half a ton of Iranian documents that prove Tehran had a secret program to build nuclear bombs, potentially giving President Donald Trump ammunition to pull the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear accord.

The Donald is not the first to trash Obama's legacy deal, Chief. It was like the shopper in the house coming home bragging about the deal on a pair of shoes she bought at 50% off, when they were priced twice what anyone else had them for.

I'm thinking ahead, humans always have ulterior motives, and what could they possibly want.
What ever happens next I think will fill in some of the story all the way back to before 9-11.

take care

Trump has pulled us out of the treaty. This is not a good precedent. It tells the world we will break treaties and deals whenever a new president comes along that did not like what was done.

Now Iran can move full speed ahead with it's nuclear weapon's program.

As for Neteyahu, he revealed old intel we had since 2003. We knew all along that Iran was lying. That is what made the deal so important. Furthermore, the deal included a robust verification regimen. But hey, Trump can't let the facts stand in his way, eh?

Yo Emily....you are so right, spot on.
The essence of the deal done under Obama made sure the worst part (nukes) was covered.
Long range ballistics? I'm sure that with an amended deal that issue could have been addressed as well.
This loonatic president apparently already said even before he ever read a word of the deal that he would scrap it, talking about a fool on the hill!!!
I'm pretty sute that in history the right judgement will be made about this absolute idiot you've got there now as president.
His only goal it seems is to destruct anything and all that Obama has done.
The more I see and read what his Trump the Assclown is doing, saying or lying about, the more I despise the idiot.
